On October 1, 2006 I had a lacrosse tournament at the Hamburg Nike base. Besides the marshy, fields and the unpredictable wind, it was a great experience, playing for the Iroquois National U-19 team or junior team. The Iroquois team is a team filled with all Native players from all of the Haudenosaunee, or six nations. Which are the Tuscarora, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, and Mohawk. We faced competition from Western New York. The schools we faced was Hamburg, Frontier, St. Francis and a team from Saint Catherines Ontario called Dennis Morris. We were very sucessful in this tournament where we won all games and beat the teams by 5 goals or more. Although the lacrosse season is technically over, there is no offseason for most of the die-hard lacrosse players. This tournament was only the first of many that our team will participate in this fall. Many of the players on my team have been getting noticed by college lacrosse coaches. I have played for many teams in the past and not one has come close to this one, there is a unique sense of i pride i get playing for this Iroquois team. Myself being of the Haudenosaunee, the creators of the game of lacrosse.
